A Set time?

For those people that find it easy to say"Hey lets just pick up and leave Iraq". Or for those who ask why is it taking so long to complete the task at hand? Ask yourself a quick question. How long would it take for a ruler to cross into the United States and change our lifestyle?

Think about all of the stuff we take for granted at times. The freedom to walk the streets, the Freedom to shop, drive, speak and to hold free will. Now flip the thought. Just imagine that all these things that we endure and live were controlled. Meaning the end of speaking and or voicing your opinion. The end of walking out of your house and travelling from or to where you please. These are the things that the U.S Military and government are trying to change.

My thought on this would be that, they have lived in Iraq for many years under a Dictatorship. And we lived for many years with a sense of freedom. Now as far as a change, its possible. But to think that you can change ones mind and habits or thoughts in a short time, would be unreasonable. For example use this basic Sample. Lets say you have a cat for many years. And this cat is trained to use its litter box that sits in the same spot each and everyday of his life. Given this basic sample do you think you could change the cats habits in a short time? While leaving his litter box in place? And telling him to use the toilet? I understand that this example is shallow in a sense but i think you get an idea of where i come from.

It is my belief that the people of Iraq are so used to this Dictator way of life and the ever presence of insurgents, that they are afraid of change. It seems that they find it very hard in some places in Iraq to accept change. Now having said that, the military has done a great job! I served over there and seen first hand how much change and progress was made. The media would have you believe that there is little change. Due to the fact that progress doesn't bring views for the most part, only the bad reports create buzz.

Having said all this. I understand that Bush and his members of the government have made there mistakes. I do think it could be going a little faster. But as far as the pick up and go option. That is not a choice I myself nor i think the U.S should make. It would be a complete failure, leaving it worse than it was before we moved in.
