Lions and postseason? or just a football mirage?

The NFL preseason was a lock for the Detroit Lions.

John Kitna, Calvin Johnson and Coach Rod Marinelli to make a real run? I don't know. Time and time again, the Lions show Promise at some point whether its in the preseason or a upset game against a hot Dallas Cowboys team.

The lions hot and cold runs are so the norm nowadays. Last season they were 6-2 halfway through. Lions fans were on the edge of their seats each game, but quickly shoved back in them after they failed to at least go 4-4 to secure a spot in the post season. Although they didn't make it, I seen some movement towards a better ball team overall. I was impressed with Kitna and a few others.

so, could this be the season for the Lions? Could the 7 drafted rookies help the lions make the move? Throughout the preseason I was very impressed with Keven Smith,Jordan Dizon, Jerome Felton and Landon Cohen. These players showed promise, and some showed the ability to make the difference right now.

The position of Kitna in QB is a lock for me. Sure he gets his critics at times, but I think that he is a solid QB and i do consider him within the top 10 League QB's. I don't see the lions throwing as much as they did last year. I mean they didn't have much of a choice did they? I don't think anyone was very capable of running consistently. This year with K Smith and Felton we should be solid.

Lions receiver core is top notch. Having this will open big gaps to run, and run some more. I am not saying don't pass, because we need to do that too,but I would wait till our running backs work the defense down a bit, that way we can rack the yardage up. Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson, and Mike Furrey.. what else can you ask for? These guys are for real and pose a huge threat.

All in all I think the Lions at best are headed to a 9-7 season with a spot in the postseason. As far as what they will do from their no one knows. We really don't have any experience in that environment. Rod Marinelli said that he was "impressed by what he has seen out of the rookies", well will see. Kick off is coming up faster than you think!
